Why choose Tropic Co?

Tropic Co Prawns, a Tassal Group fishery, take pride in producing only the highest quality prawns. Popularly known for their good looks and incredible taste, Australian Black Tiger Prawns are vibrant in colour with distinctive tiger stripes. Sweet in flavour and firm in texture, they’re perfect for all occasions and are available all year round. An Australian favourite, tiger prawns are incredibly nutritious and packed full of beneficial minerals and nutrients.

Located along the coastline of tropical Queensland and northern New South Wales, Tropic Co prawn farms draw natural sea water from local rivers and inlets. The prawns love the warm climate and Tropic Co love their prawns. That’s why it’s important to ensure the environment they’re in replicates their natural habitat in the wild.

Tropic Co have three farms: Mission Beach, Proserpine and Yamba. Investing in supporting and growing these local communities is paramount for sustainability. Tassal strictly operate using the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) that addresses environmental and social responsibility, animal welfare, food safety and traceability. Tassal has BAP certification for its Yamba, Mission Beach and Proserpine prawn farms. The Mission Beach hatchery is also certified and the Proserpine hatchery audit is scheduled for the end of August 2020.
